Not Gonna Lie, Not very Good

Well it appears no personal scripting was done here as it follows the generic Platform Tutorial engine, if it was custom made you would know enough about scripting to keep those 'orbs' from being tweens. I read through the story and understood the premise but no real thought was put into it it's your regular good/evil plotline, but I understand story isn't the biggest part. Gameplay is. Which unfortunately for you it's pretty weak. The gameplay is just like any other platformer, lacking the twist that makes it unique. The animations were poor and rushed such as the characters running (what the hell was that lol) and the orbs shooting towards you. The music was annoying as hell and lastly the graphics. Nothing special, actually quite un-special (if that's a word) due to the lack of custom colours, you used default black and red and those shitty gradiants that come pre-prepared in Flash MX - Flash CS4. I'm not trying to say it's all terrible but I'm pointing out the bad. The good is the fact that you've expirimented and gotten that much better at flash. Everyone has to start somewhere, so with you making this you'll get enough expirience with flash to make better movies. I've come a long way in three years making from what your quallity platformers to full fledged shooter engines. (You won't find much on my page but...) Keep with the flash and last out through the douchbaggery reviews like mine here, and one day you'll be writing your own script wether you belive you will or not. I sure as shit didn't.

Zeck2709 responds:

Thanks a lot for the words of wisdom, i do know that most of the game is pretty shitty, and am currently working on everything in it to actually finish it and make it... well, better than it is.

Good Engine Gameplay Was Meh

You can go far with this, think about making a sequel cause this engine seems quite good, just the gameplay wasn't too good. When you think about it making your script for where the bullet spawns lock onto a moveable gravity enabled platformer character you could move into games like thing thing or madness interactive. Not saying it'd be easy but if it's scripted as I think it is you've got quite the engine here. Oh and graphics weren't bad.

spod responds:

the hero will be movable in the next version,, jump duck left and right movement to dodge the incoming enemy bullets.

yes the bullets are independently moving objects, just like real bullets.

Sincerly Dissapointed

It's well made, hell I know how frusturating actionscript is. I see all this effort you've clearly put in it makes it hard to break you the bad news. Well sorry, the gameplay just, wasn't fun. I think it should have been a bit faster paced. Zombie games in general such as L4D, Dead Rising ect. get their fun from a certain type of difficulty. Your game was probobly just as hard as theirs, but and I'm not saying your game has to follow their storyline, it's your game, your choice, but, zombies were once humans. Except now theyre all decayed and nasty, even a healthy human can't withstand as many bullets as it takes to kill these horribly deformed and weakened zombies. For a suggestion, maybe make more zombies, with faster running, but less health, it make sthe gameplay frantic, keeping you on edge more so than this at it's current state does, without much extra effort. And adding in every once in a while a harder but slower enemy helps too, it adds to the frantic thinking, it blurs out the other zombies and makes him the key to focus on. It really shifts the way you play throwing things like that at you, you see stuff liek this in Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead with the tanks and even iPod game slike zombieville USA. I just think it needs some tweaking to make it.... you know fun. Cause the engine and stuff is there, the graphics are amazing but what's a game withoutfun eh? It is a game after all. Just some ideas and pointers, and hell for effort, I'll give you a 7. (consider making a sequel maybe)

AdelPiero responds:

There will be a sequel and I'll consider adding more fast zombies that can be taken out with a single shot ( as you suggested ).

As for red teleporting zombies difficulty :-) I did mention it in the comments. Don't fight them, just hold them off. Get the key card as fast as possible and run, fire at them using regular ammo ( because you have 12 per clip ) to hold them off, hopefully for long enough to make it to the exit. Each time they get hit they slow down for a moment and slowing them down that way is pretty much all you can do.

It's possible to kill them, but you'll need to be pretty good and lucky to kill both.

Hideous Anti-Analsysing

Ugh, how the hell could you have managed that? No offense but something's graphically gone cause on high quallity it looks like you made good graphics then someone took it and chewed it up and shit it and took an acidic piss on it. So crusty looking. Anyways, pretty good game I can tell you're a very beginner, nice to see more flashers out there, but yea. Pretty good job with the variables and Actionscript (do you use 2 or 3?) just you need to spark originallity when you make a game. Create something new, this kind of game isnt very fun, it was jsut new when the impossible quiz came out thats why it did so well. By the time 2 came out there had been millions of immitations and it's magic was gone. So keep up the good work fix you anti0-analysizing and make your own ideas for games. I hafta say it was quite boring but hey everyone starts somewhere, so.... 6/10 for effort.

XPGames responds:

lol the acid piss ideia wuz a little crazy, but yeah, i am a begginer, and i`m not good at all on flash.i use action script 3, btw.

thanks for the acid piss review!

Very Good actually!

Extremley buggy but good coding job! Made it into the base but couldn't get past that part.

Thracian responds:

Thanks, the completed one will be a lot cooler.

An Amazing Game

I predict an award coming your way. I cannot express how awesome this game is. Somehow it feels interesting unlike many side scrolling shooters. I think some things like scrolling background environments could be added but that was your choice to ave it how it was. Other than that though It was great! The upgrade aspect, the gameplay, the drifting ship physics and my faviorete the sound effects, they were so crisp and punchy but not too loudor dramatic. I LOVE THE EXPLOSION NOISE! It's just so freaking perfect. I am definatley adding this game to my favioretes and gonna check out your other stuff. 5/5 10/10

HUNRobar responds:

Thank you very much all of you! I'm very glad to hear that I could achieve something that other people like. But do you have an idea why it gets 2.9-3 points? According to the reviews, it should have 3.8-4 points or so..

A fun game with a cool Storyline

It had good graphics,
overall gameplay was good,
stroy was cool, but my biggest problem was it was slow paced.
Anyways good work!

fizzgear responds:

Hey - thanks for feedback, dailyderek! Do you mean it lagged for you or just in general game play was not putting enough challenge?

None of it makes sense, Sorry

None of it makes sense, Sorry. I really didn't understand how to play, and yeah I read the instructions.

hallaby responds:

9 works. Ok move with the arrow keys, try and hit the castle, and avoid the carrots!

Perfect!

Great Work! Very easy to understand and system runs fine!
To MarioPawns: LOL GAMEMAKER 7? HAH, This is newgrounds, a flash site, noone here uses gamemaker! You can't even post gamemaker games.

mercygames responds:

loooooool

Dude This Is Great

Almost as Addictive as the Real Stick RPG!
Good job, just needs better graphics... Anyway I loved it especially the bar fights lol always been a faviorete! Good work!

Kwing responds:

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! As for the graphics, remember that this is a PSP platform I'm using, which in particular is a very picky system. Even if you're using a big memory stick, that doesn't effect the PSP's RAM, so every frame has to be kept relatively low memory. The outside bit pretty much had me on my toes, as it was so graphic intensive for the small system it was intended for.
