I'm all for artisitcs but,

I understand the style you're trying to get at, I'm not worried about the graphics being non human, but the animations are still choppy which is never good, if you smooth up that fbf the whole thing would look miles better. Secondly I thouhgt it was fairly short, and I realize a demo but with this length it's more like a teaser. One thing that kinda pissed me off was the key, why does everyone make keys look like that? (lol?) Hah, I know it's not anything big but every game uses keys like that and who in real life ACTUALLY DOES? LOL. In something non-serious it's kinda fitting cause that's an iconic key but since I've got a large feeling this isn't supposed to be funny or like light action, I'd change small details like that. For gameplay it's meh, choose your own adventures can be good and can be bad, always try to have a mix between the obvious answer being right and the not so obvious, but please dont make it random give hints in the scene which will kill you and which won't. I donno guess thats all I gotta say. I'll give you a six outta ten but probobly rate your full one a 7-10.

fearbeast responds:

Thanks for the review :P - if only I could go back in time 7 years and tell my 16yo self what you just said

Personally

I'm not too found of tablets, they are made to simulate regular drawing but I think they fail in many ways. I am much more skilled at animating with pen and paper although it is a little inconvenient. I personally prefer pen and paper but I think if you're good with a tablet it looks more 'clean' and professonal. Your animation here was nothing too amazing but that special little bonus of having it done twice in different styles made it unique and memorable. Not gonna vote too high (sorry) but I think a 7 out of 10 is reasonable.

martiescageda responds:

Thanks for sharing your opininon. Personally I like drawing directly on my computer, I save time (and paper); but the "feeling" of pen and paper is different, the animation feels "alive"...

BTW, the score you gave me is OK.

lol thats awesome

your spamming of my page pissed me off but i did enjoy this, thanks lol

It's not spam, it's a surprise mail ordered orgasm!

Not too Scary but yet still Good

It wasn't scary to say like it scared me but it had a very well done creepy and mysterious atmosphere. I loved the flckering dark screen, it really implied discomfort with the unerving shaking camera and the eiry alien noises. I think this film had great detail in the animation and my biggest problem with it had to be the ending was kinda goofy where he spat the and out his stomach and it made a farting noise. I just thought that kinda broke the mood. Maybe he as you implied is a zombie in response to other reviews and the ant is his only food in which him eating the ant shows desperation but the farting and wasting of the ant just seemed like the clown was getting a laugh out of it. Keep up the great work and hope to see more coming! :D

JohnDavidHeptinstall responds:

Thanks very much - and yeah I was wondering whether or not to include that sound, it felt like it needed something and I was pressed to think of anything else lol

Seemed shallow at times,

I get that the sketchy style is on purpose, I do really but at times i seemed so sketch that I think you just rushed and it lacked effort. Some of the animation and the overall multimedia feel was neat but I think you needed to spend a bit more time to get my vote. I mean it wasn't bad but then there's always room for improvement. Oh and BTW I loved the variety of scenes.

Boss responds:

it took me 7 months

Nice Short and Too the Point

Didn't actually make me laugh but was pretty good overall. Not bad my firend, not bad.

Chimbley responds:

thankya

LOL Not bad but one major issue,

Actually two issues, and they're not very major. Hah. To start with the good news, it's well animated, shading looked ok, very colourful although quallity of background wasn't great looked good, very smooth animations which I liked. Problems were that is was hard to understand maybe due to lack of expressions, scenes or dilauge resulting in lack of humour. Other problem well it's only kinda a problem, ahah, umm every newcomer to flash knows from the start SFX are important. They make half the enjoyabillity, epsecially ifyou're aiming for a cintamatic effect. Which you werent here but I'm just simply noting that, anyway, SFX is good but only if it's fitting. I recognized the Counter Strike bomb difusal noise when the guy opened his eyes, hahahah! Good try jsut make the plot easier to undertsand and get more fitting sfx.

alafraga responds:

Well, I usually animate stick figures instead of people. I am a newcomer the that genre of flash.

Nope, good try but nope.

Sorry, you can't steal chris o'ielle's franchise of spongebob sickpants, left 4 speed and the sicksons that easily. Be unique don't copy other people, the animation wasn't bad, well not too bad anyways, the voices, sucked but whatever, the humour wasn't funny at ALL and lastly you lied to 'Mr. Starz as you call him.' You say you started this before left 4 speed came out but nope, l4s came out Janruary 2nd 2009, District 9 the film itself came out August 14th 2009. So you lose. Try to make something original, put some thought into humour random dicks hidden in the background isn't funny not when you do it anyway, you can't jsut steal a humour style, it won't work unless you know what makes it funny inside and out, and lastly please get someone else to do the voices, it's quite annoying...

kiranup responds:

sorry i meant left 4 speed 2 i just wanted to try
a similer style geuss it didn't go down to well
so i'll stick to my own style k?

Long Review Comin Up

Alright well, here's the new SRM style, not sure if I like it or not yet, I find SRM's brighter colour looks cool, revamped and new. Makes it unique, I also love the new house! Looks quite a bit better than your previous animation stlye (blotchy lines and such) but I think it needs to be mastered a bit mor,e it's more fresh being hand drswn and all but for now it looks like their made of wet clay, lol! Besides the new grapics I gotta say SRM has advanced quite a bit form the start to the point where this feels almost like a sitcom. The events that happen we can relate to, unlike the original where nothing was rleated and random words were psat out every five seconds. I think you're getting closer and closer to real comedy and sooner or later SRM will get the populatrity it's been calling out for since day one. Overall, the stlye for now doesnt look to good, they look like wet colourful turds but with time you can prolly master the tablet (i know theyre hard as shit to get used to) and have a fresher cleaner looking srm than you ever could with the very dead looking curved line tool characters.

Battosai810 responds:

"Wet colorful turds" - that's not something I get to say often enough! There are some points where it felt like I was really animating amorphous characters, and I frequently derided Mel for being a fatass. This is a bit of a rough transitional period, so they're appropriately looking a bit, well, rough! Thanks for the props on the backgrounds - they definitely need some refinement, but they're finally looking less 2D, and more like a lived in space.

Thanks for the nice long review! It always makes my day to get a big review packed with constructive criticism :)

I loved that!

Anything with tons of Newgrounds characters and Egorpator in it is great! Liked how you took jokes from all sorts of cartoons like that midget knight guy (can't remember his name) and his dad. Btw that scene in the original movie was disgusting lol.

Jazza responds:

yeah i know. i'll probably never live it down.
